What You'll Be Doing

The Senior Human Resources Trainer serves as a team-lead, strategic advisor to the Training Manager, and a mentor to the training team. As a Senior HR Trainer, you will be a pivotal member of the Training and Development team, responsible for designing, delivering, and evaluating training programs. The position requires availability for in-person trainings and meetings several days a month based on business needs.  

 The Senior Trainer consults with managers across Wake County to identify training needs and opportunities. The Senior Trainer researches, develops, updates, delivers, and evaluates customized training and development programs, presentations, and materials designed to improve individual or organizational performance and across varied training formats (in-person, virtual, interactive, and microlearning.)

The Senior Human Resources Trainer:

  • Leads the development and execution of comprehensive training programs. 
  • Utilizes adult learning principles and instructional design methodologies to create engaging learning experiences that cater to diverse learning styles.
  • Evaluates the effectiveness of training materials and programs through feedback, adoption, efficiency, and compliance metrics to measure learning outcomes and make improvements.
  • Develops measures of end-user competence, confidence, and efficiency to guide training experiences.
  • Manages and serves as a critical team member on projects within HR Training’s scope, to include large-scale, collaborative, county-wide projects.
  • Serves as a subject-matter expert and administrator for functions of the Learning Management System (Cornerstone OnDemand).
  • In partnership with the Training Manager, identifies strategic opportunities for the Training division and supports teammates in taking on new opportunities and activities.
  • Stays current on, and researches new and emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices (such as AI and its impact on Learning and Development).
  • Mentors and guides HR Trainers in their professional development.
  • Develops and delivers presentations targeted towards Senior Leadership at the County level.

The Basics (Required Education and Experience)

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management, Public Administration, Business Administration or related field
  • Three years of experience in human resources administration
  • Equivalent education and experience are accepted

Beyond the Basics (Preferred Education and Experience)

  • At least three years in a position dedicated to adult learning and development
  • Certification in facilitation of specialized training (i.e. Myers-Brigs; Disc)
  • Subject matter expertise with Learning Management Systems
  • Professional training experience in a large organization with multiple and diversified departments
  • Experience designing and delivering a variety of training including instructor led, virtual instructor led, self-paced/online, and microlearning.

How Will We Know You're 'The One'?

  • Demonstrated experience in instructional design methodologies and adult learning principles.
  • Ability to provide in-depth consultation in the areas of needs assessment, curriculum design for complex training goals, and program evaluation.
  • Ability to develop and conduct diversified training programs to meet organizational needs.
  • Ability to utilize various software applications to develop effective online training (e.g., Articulate and Beyond).
  • Demonstrated project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple training initiatives simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in using e-learning authoring tools, learning management systems (LMS), and virtual training platforms.
  • Ability to develop highly collaborative professional relationships to carry out cross-departmental and cross-functional projects.
  • Ability to prepare training plans and materials and provide instruction for multiple work units in a variety of disciplines.
  • Ability to develop and administer a dynamic training evaluation program to effectively assess learning outcomes and acquired competencies.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of adult learning principles, theories, models, and the application of these in both principle and practice.
  • Ability to communicate with discretion and tact in all situations.
  • Ability to identify training gaps and align training to organizational process and culture.
  • Excellent written communication and interpersonal skills. Exceptional oral communication skills to include formal presentation, coaching, and consultation with ability to communicate well throughout all levels of the organization.
  • Exceptional customer service skills.

Employment Type: Regular

Work Schedule: Mon- Fri 8:30am-5:15pm. 85% remote but requires availability for in-person trainings and meetings several days a month based on business needs.  

Hiring Range: $72,051 – $92,237

Market Range: $72,051.00 - 129,698.00
